SPOTLIGHT
2019-2020 K5 Pre-Registration

Your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2019, to qualify for Kindergarten in the 2019-2020 school year.

Please use the link below to pre-register your child for kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year.  If your child is attending a 4K program in SDOC during the 2018-2019 school year, you do not need to pre-register for kindergarten.

·        The pre-registration online form will only collect some basic information on your child.  You will still need to officially register your child when NEW student registration opens in late July 2019.

·        In late July 2019, an email will be sent to the email address that you provided on the pre-registration form.  This email will contain instructions on completing the online school registration process for your child.

Time Change for the 5th Grade Awards Day

Please note the time for the 5th Grade Awards Day on Friday, May 24th has been changed to 8:15 am in the new gym at our school.  All other awards programs will begin at 8:45 am.

School Choice
School Choice for the 2019-2020 school year opens on Friday, March 1st and will remain open until Friday, June 7th.  If you would like for your child to attend a school that is outside the attendance area in which you live, you must complete an online school choice request that can be found on the School District website under the Parent's tab.  If you are unable to complete the online request, please contact the school office to obtain a paper copy to complete and return to the school that you are requesting.  School choice forms are required annually even if your child is currently on school choice.

School Choice will close on Friday, June 7, 2019.  This is a hard deadline and will end on June 7th, no exceptions.  Please contact the school office for any questions.

The following are highlights of the SDOC school choice policy:

  • Only students that reside in Oconee County are eligible for school choice.
  • Transportation to a "choice school" is the responsibility of the parent/guardian (no bus service will be provided).
  • Students on school choice must submit an application each year.
  • Principals will consider behavior, attendance, and grades before approving applications.
  • The completed online request is due to the choice school on or before June 7, 2019.
  • If more applications are received than the number of spaces available at any school, a lottery system will be used to fill spaces.
The school district reserves the right to limit school choice enrollment by grade level or program as staffing or funding requires.  Choice may also be limited by classroom space in the school(s).
